I f you’re not aware by now, OfCom has decided to remove the Iranian English-language news channel PressTV from the Sky platform under the pretext that PressTV made administrative errors in its application for a license in 2007.
It has also fined PressTV Limited in London a hundred thousand pounds. At the same time, Ofcom has made moves to revoke the license of PressTV Limited in the UK for what it calls PressTV Ltd’s lack of control over the channel’s broadcast.
However, media observers say these charges are merely a pretext to remove the satellite channel off the air, as indicated in the WikiLeaks revelations. We will examine Ofcom’s case and actions against PressTV in this edition of the PressTV News Analysis.
