P resident Jacob Zuma has arrived on a working visit to New York where he’s due to present a blueprint to the UN Secretary General on Global Sustainability. Zuma along with Finnish President Tajra Halonen, co-Chairs the UN High Level Panel on Global Sustainability – leading a group of experts that will provide a crucial roadmap that will feed into deliberations ahead of the all important Sustainability Summit in Rio later this year.
The President, who is accompanied by International Relations Minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, will also preside over a Security Council meeting that is set to closely examine the fractured relationship between the UN and the AU – a partnership that has taken strain particularly over developments in Libya over the last 12 months.
